November 2008
Another year nearly gone as Christmas looms ever nearer.
Lucy, our head nurse is speeding
through her Supervisory skills module and has now reached the section
covering Client care and practice image. Watch out as she may be practicing
her new skills on any unsuspecting client as they walk innocently through
the door.
Lucy has also been attending lectures at the British
Veterinary Nurse Congress and was surprised but delighted to see that our
very own veterinary nurses were highlighted in photographs on the
Veterinary nurse association stand.
We held a Veterinary Nurse Careers Open Evening on Tuesday 28th
October as part of Veterinary Nurse Week. This was the 2nd year that this
event has been run and again places were high in demand. Everyone had a
good time and we hope that we have inspired all those would-be veterinary
nurses to take up this very rewarding career.
Sarah, our senior nurse based at the
main surgery has also been acquiring new skills. Sarah has attended a two
day course on animal physiotherapy. This was a very intensive course giving
Sarah the skills to help post operative recovery on orthopaedic patients
and senior or less mobile pets. Sarah is hoping to develop these new skills
further with additional training throughout the next year.
We also are fund-raising at present for the Animal Cancer
Charity Trust and the grande prize is a fantastic Nintendo DS, the super
brain training game console. The raffle is being run until the 30th
November so don’t delay…buy your raffle ticket
today.
After all, you’ve got to be in it to win it.
Catch up with us in December and watch our for our Christmas
cheer.
Log on next month for more news from the Thameswood crew.
