The first few weeks and months of your puppy’s life are crucial and experiences gained during this time can have a lasting effect on their adult life.

The aim of our Puppy Parties is to socialise young puppies, encouraging the development of a sociable and well-adjusted dog. At this time of bad press involving dog attacks, ensuring your dog is sociable with other dogs and people alike is crucial. The parties also provide an opportunity to share experiences with other owners and introduce you to the benefits of regular check-ups and all aspects of preventative healthcare.

Why do we think socialisation is so important? To be a successful pet, dogs need to get on well with other living creatures as well as coping with a variety of different everyday experiences. Puppies that are correctly socialised grow up to be friendly and happy with people and animals, taking different situations in their stride and enjoy going anywhere with their owners.

Socialisation starts with our Puppy Parties. Until they are old enough to be taken out, Puppy Parties offer a unique opportunity to meet other puppies of a similar age in a controlled environment.

Our parties consist of a course of three parties, one every two weeks and all Thameswood puppies who are less than 16 weeks of age and who have had their 1st vaccination are welcome. Parties are run by a Veterinary Nurse with another staff member assisting, and last for approximately an hour during which time there will be a controlled interaction for the puppies, discussion of important topics by the nurse and a question and answer session to close.

We have also produced a Puppy Sounds CD. This CD contains samples of everyday noises, which will help prepare your puppy for life in today’s world. Noise phobias are a common problem and this CD will help prevent your puppy developing problems later in life. The CDs are available for just £2.00 at every Puppy Party.
