Advanced Therapies
We offer a range of advanced therapies for pets to enhance their recovery, increase mobility, decrease inflammation, improve healing times and offer pain relief.
Platelet Rich Plasma and Stem Cell Therapy
Used for the treatment of conditions such as osteoarthritis or a tendon or ligament injury.
K-Laser (therapeutic)
K-Laser is a non-invasive therapy used for a variety of conditions as reasons. As well as helping to alleviate the pain and the inflammation associated with chronic conditions, it can also be used for wound healing and to promote ligament or tendon healing.
Physiotherapy & Hydrotherapy
Physiotherapy is a non invasive therapy, used for rehabilitation (such as post-operatively) and for the management of conditions such as arthritis and muscle wastage. Hydrotherapy is a form of exercise that uses warm water to help pets improve their mobility, reduce pain, and heal from injuries.

Platelet Rich Plasma and Stem Cell Therapy
Canine Platelet Rich Plasma offers a safe and natural cell therapy to relieve the pain of joint disease or injury, promote healing and reduce recovery time using your dog’s own blood. This simple procedure can be done in the hospital as a day procedure.
Your pet is sedated or anaesthetised, blood is drawn and filtered to trap the platelets, and then the platelets are recovered by reverse flow using a special solution. A needle is inserted in the affected joint, synovial fluid aspirated to confirm the location is the joint, and the therapy is administered until resistance in the joint is felt.
We are also able to perform Canine Stem Cell Treatment where we inject stem cells into joints can reduce pain and increase limb function in dogs with osteoarthritis and degenerative joint disease. Injecting stem cells into injured tendons and ligaments can also aid the healing process.
What is the difference between stem cell therapy and platelet rich plasma (PRP)?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) as explained above, is made by concentrating the platelets normally seen in low numbers in the blood. Platelets contain high levels of growth factors and other proteins which may be beneficial for the healing of inflammation in joints. PRP is very quick and simple to prepare and therefore cheaper than stem cell therapy.
K-Laser
K-Laser is a non-invasive laser therapy that can treat a variety of conditions in pets, including pain, swelling and inflammation. It can be used to help with healing, rehabilitation, and chronic pain.
It’s non-invasive : As opposed to other forms of treatment which could be quite invasive on the body, such as surgery, this therapy is very gentle. Your dog or cat is simply lying or sitting in a comfy position on a soft bed, while one of the nurses or vets directs the laser beam at the appropriate area.
It’s non-painful: It can even be relaxing! No pressure or awkward positioning of the animal is needed for the laser beam to do its work. The laser beam will not cause any pain; instead, most pets will feel a slightly warm sensation.
It can be used to treat osteoarthritis and hip dysplasia: Laser treatment can be used both to alleviate the pain and the inflammation associated with these chronic conditions. Some dogs who were hardly able to walk before treatment can now walk and move much better after several laser therapy sessions. It is fantastic to see their quality of life improve so much and sometimes see the list of medications go down quite drastically!
It helps your pet recover after an operation: We offer this therapy to cats and dogs that have had surgery. The surgical wound will heal faster and better when treated with the laser, as it promotes healing. It can also improve tendon and ligament function.
You can stay with your pet during treatment: If your pet is a bit nervous about going to the vets, it can be really comforting for them if you are in the same room when treatment is being given. With laser therapy this is possible, as long as there are no risk factors, such as pregnancy, pace-maker, or suspected neoplasia! You have to wear safety goggles as a precaution.
It reduces pain without medication: Laser therapy is the use of focused beams of light (red and infrared) being directed at a part of the body – this stimulates the cells to produce a therapeutic effect. We love the idea of using fewer medications.
Laser treatment costs are covered by most insurance companies: This therapy is now a well-accepted mode of therapy, and its usefulness is recognised by insurance companies. You should check to see if your pet insurance policy covers this treatment.
It can be used to treat skin conditions: Skin conditions associated with ear problems, gingivitis in the mouth and skin pyoderma respond well to the therapy through the reduction of inflammation and associated soreness.
It can be used to treat strains: Muscle, tendon and ligament strains can be treated with laser therapy as it relieves muscle contracture and reduces inflammation. This is very useful for sudden injuries as it relieves pain and speeds up recovery. These conditions usually require few sessions of laser treatment.

Physiotherapy & Hydrotherapy
Physiotherapy sessions to help rehabilitate pets post-surgery or injury and manage conditions such as arthritis or muscle wastage.
Typically, treatment involves gentle manipulation, accompanied with a rehabilitation exercise program. Physiotherapy is extremely beneficial for older pets. This is because as joints and muscles age they become stiff, weak and painful which can lead to pets becoming less active and less willing to move, which in turn accelerates degeneration.
Physiotherapy can be a useful, non-invasive treatment for older animals, that may be used solely or in conjunction with other veterinary treatments.
Every animal and owner’s situation are unique, so no standard exercise program is handed out instead time is taken to discuss the individual needs of the pet and how this can fit in with the owner’s circumstances.
Canine hydrotherapy is a form of non-weight-bearing exercise using either a swimming pool or an underwater treadmill. Hydrotherapy involves the use of key water properties (such as buoyancy) which are important in facilitating rehabilitation. The key water properties help to reduce pressure from the joints and encourage a greater range of movement.
